11+ Paper Classes

Paper Classes

We run separate Paper Classes for Year 4 and Year 5, in addition to the weekly tuition classes. They are not mandatory, and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Aim

To give children the regular, timed test practice they need for the 11+ exams, building speed, accuracy and exam technique.

Year 4 Paper Class (September 2026 to July 2027)

• When: opposing alternate Sundays, 10 am to 12 pm, online. Starts Sunday 27 September 2026.
• Cost: £30 per two-hour session, or £20 for papers only.
• Who it is for: pupils scoring 60% or above, and pupils who would benefit from regular timed practice.
• What happens: timed Maths and English papers, followed by review with a Teaching Assistant. Answers and worked methods are emailed after the session.

Year 5 Paper Class (September 2026 to July 2027)

• When: weekly, choose one session: Mondays 5:45 to 7:45 pm online, Wednesdays 5:45 to 7:45 pm online, Saturdays 10 am to 12 pm or 12:30 to 2:30 pm at Harris Academy Purley, or Sundays 2 to 4 pm at Manor Park Primary School, 9 Greyhound Road, Sutton, SM1 4AW.
• Cost: £40 per two-hour session.
• Papers at Home: £20 per week for one short Maths paper and one short English paper, supplied with answers, emailed to complete at home.
• Who it is for: children who know the concepts but need regular practice with timed tests, harder word problems, and speed and accuracy. Recommended if your child scored above 60% in either subject.

Process

Children sit a 30-minute written test in Maths and a 30-minute written test in English. A teaching assistant then goes through the corrections and explanations, and the answers and methods are emailed home. Maths tests work through the curriculum topic by topic until each is covered, then move to mixed topics; English tests include both multiple-choice and written questions.

Please bear in mind these are practice classes, not teaching classes. The teaching assistant will cover the tough questions, but anything your child is still unsure about should be brought to us in their weekly tuition class.

Why our Paper Classes are different

Other providers of paper classes only offer papers which combine all the topics from the very beginning. We believe children need to be taught and tested in topics first. This builds their confidence and ensures a foundation is laid before they are tested across the whole curriculum, with the challenge increasing as we move on.
