Year 3

Year 3 course overview

• Small groups of approximately 8 to 10 pupils
• One compulsory two-hour lesson every week from September 2026 to July 2027
• Experienced and friendly teachers who hold Enhanced DBS checks
• All lesson plans, teaching materials and homework are designed and overseen by Mrs Pillai
• Regular progress assessments and parent feedback
• Termly assessments and an end-of-year examination

Curriculum

Our challenging course covers Year 3 and Year 4 Key Stage 2 Maths and English. The aim is for pupils to progress towards a strong Year 4 standard by the end of Year 3 while building secure foundations for the 11+.

Homework

Homework is provided by email through Dropbox after each lesson. Pupils should expect approximately 20 minutes per day, five days a week, including Maths, creative writing, comprehension, vocabulary and English skills. Learn2Write tasks must be uploaded at least three days before each lesson.

Fees and important January increase

• Fees are payable monthly in advance
• Payment can be made by bank transfer, Tax-Free Childcare or childcare vouchers
• Mandatory Learn2Write subscription: £25.99 per month, discounted from £32.99
• Deposit: £88, refundable subject to the Terms & Conditions
• Notice period: four term-time weeks in writing by email

Pillai Tutors is Ofsted registered. We accept childcare vouchers.

Course books

• Three compulsory Maths books: £100 for the complete set; one book is used each term
• Advanced Reading book: £30
• Advanced Vocabulary book: £30
• The Reading and Vocabulary books are provided in March 2027; the £60 invoice is issued in December

Published holidays

• Christmas and New Year: Sunday 20 December 2026 to Saturday 2 January 2027
• Easter: Thursday 25 March to Wednesday 31 March 2027
• Summer: August is off; the final lesson is Saturday 31 July 2027
